Five Things To Get You Through The Pandemic

Am I the only one who needs five minutes (sometimes an hour) to myself everyday?

Before the pandemic started I always took a five minute break every hour to be with myself. And although I love being around people, I also love my moments of solitude. Here is a list of things that I do during my five minute break.

Music

Music helps with my mood swings throughout the day, so I try to listen to artists that uplift my spirits. I have been listening to some of my favorite Indie Artists Quiana Major and Frankie Midnight, you can listen to their music on Bandcamp and Spotify.

Afternoon Tea

Drinking hot tea has a way of calming me down in moments of anxiety and confusion. I am all about: Lipton Black Tea, Earl Gray, and Oolong, with a drop of honey from the local bee farm Honi Lifestyle.

Reading
Part 1
Conversations with God

Devin Allen
A Beautiful Ghetto

Some of my favorite kinds of books are spiritual self growth books, photography books, and poetry books. Currently I am reading Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch and A Beautiful Ghetto by Devin Allen.

Painting Nails
These are some of my favorite summer colors
OPI Infinite Shine

I love painting my nails y'all, it is very therapeutic for me. I used to go to the salon and get them done (full set or gel), but now I look forward to doing my own. I have the opportunity to change the color once a week, moisturize my nails with jojoba oil, and shape them the way I want. Lately I have been using OPI Infinite Shine nail polish purchased on Amazon Prime.

Nature

“Take me to the water, love.” This is what I tell my boyfriend all the time and he knows exactly what I mean. He knows that I need to clear my mind and and sit by a body of water (ocean, lake, pool, pound).

My mom always told me to take five minutes for myself every day, and I encourage you to do the same!
